Kennedy Chandler has been on the scene for a while. I’m pretty sure your wondering how because he is only in the 8th grade. Kennedy has been dribbling a ball since he was 5 years old training under local Memphis Trainer Scotty Mason.

Kennedy’s basketball career took off as early as his 4th grade year. He was coached by his Father Kylan Chandler of The Memphis War Eagles. Kennedy Chandler burst onto the national scene when he won the YBOA 4th grade Division coached by Local Dentist David Kizer.

It’s no secret that him and Jalen Brown were a backcourt to be reckoned with during their Memphis Wildcats days where they were coached by Deidra Lawson. Yes you read that right the wife of Keelon Lawson former Memphis Tigers assistant coach.

Kennedy played Middle School ball for Briarcrest. He started this past season on the High School JV team even though many feel he was good enough to play varsity. His Father Kylan made the right decision of keeping him off varsity because he would be ineligible to play any where else. The option was open and East High School will get one of the best young point guards coming into a season where they have a Mr. Basketball point guard in Alex Lomax class of 2018.

Kennedy Chandler is currently ranked in the Top 25 in his respected 2021 class. The 5’9 guard is a High Basketball IQ guard who plays smart and is a good defender. He averaged 18 points 6 assists and 3 steals a game for Briarcrest. Kennedy is currently playing AAU Nationals with Team Penny 15 year old team

Key components in Kennedy’s early development are trainers Jevonte Holmes and Frank Harris. He’s also currently training with team strength conditioning coach Raheem Shabazz working on lateral quickness and strength.

When Alex Lomax signs his Division 1 Scholarship there will be another point guard in the mix waiting for his opportunity as well. Kennedy is a quiet kid who excelles in the classroom and on the court.

Kennedy will team up with fellow Top 25 prospect Jalen Brown to lead a dangerous backcourt for years to come. This won’t be there first time teaming up together so it’s more so the opportunity and chance to show what they can really do. Kennedy will learn the game more than anything in his first year.

Right now the Chandler family knows it’s one step at a time but it’s a step that they have been ready for. Look for Kennedy Chandler to be dropping dimes all over the place. The clutch play maker with no fear is now at East High School.
