Shaun Rupert was arrested Thursday on robbery, burglary, and weapons charges & was dismissed from the team. Shelby County court records allege Rupert robbed another student at gunpoint.

Shelby County court records allege Rupert robbed another student at gunpoint. Police say on May 25th, the victim was walking to his apartment in the 500 block of Brister Street, and as he got to his door, Rupert and another man pushed their way in. The victim said the two were armed with black handguns, and demanded money. The victim says they then stole two watches, and Xbox, and an Apple Macbook.

The victim told police the two made him get in the bathtub and told him they would kill him if he called police. Later, the victim says he saw his property being offered up on an online site, and they were listed to belong to Rupert.

The following statement was released Friday from Memphis Athletics:

“Shaun Rupert has been dismissed from the University of Memphis football team for a violation of team rules. This matter will also be reviewed by the Office of Student Accountability, Outreach and Support for violations of the UofM Student Code of Conduct. No additional comments will be made while the investigation is ongoing.”
