University of Memphis junior forward Mike Parks Jr., was named to the weekly American Athletic Conference honor roll for his play in games last week vs. UConn and Tulsa.
In the two games, Parks went 14-of-21 from the field with 18 rebounds and three blocks. For Parks, a transfer from Southwest Mississippi Community College, it is the first time he has been honored by the league.
In the U of M’s 73-49 win at home against UConn, Parks posted the first double-double of his career with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Against UConn, he set season highs in: points (21), rebounds (11), field goals made (9), field goals attempted (14), offensive rebounds (5), defensive rebounds (6) and total rebounds (11).
In the U of M’s 64-51 loss at Tulsa Saturday, Parks finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. He made five of his seven field goal attempts and blocked two shots.
In the team’s seven conference games, Parks has made 40 of 61 field goals (65.5 percent) and is averaging 12.9 points. He averaged 3.8 points in the team’s first 13 games.
The Tigers (13-7, 4-3 AAC) play next against ninth-ranked Cincinnati (17-2, 6-0 AAC) at 5 p.m Saturday at FedExForum.
