Jamal Johnson requests his release from the University of Memphis
Memphis guard Jamal Johnson is transferring from the program. He becomes second Tigers’ player to transfer since Penny Hardaway’s hiring. Only one scholarship player remains from last year’s freshman class, forward Victor Enoh.

The Tigers now have at least five available scholarships to use even though one is expected to go to Alex Lomax. Jamal Johnson, son of former NBA player Buck Johnson was a 4-star recruit out of Birmingham, Alabama. He was part of Tubby Smith’s final recruiting class that was ranked preseason #1 in the AAC.
