Derek “Dee” Fountain, a 6-foot-8 guard/forward who attended Holly Springs High School in Mississippi, has committed to Mississippi State University!

Derek began his high school career as a 6-foot-1 point guard, but a seven inch growth spurt has made it possible for him to play anywhere on the court at the high school level.

Widely considered to be one of the top players in the state of Mississippi, Fountain has become a nightmare for opponents with his ability to create for others and himself off of the dribble.

The class of 2020 senior decided to stay closer to home garnering interest from several programs.

Earlier in the year, Derek opened eyes by his performance against the nation’s top shot-blocker and Tennessee Mr. Basketball Moussa Cisse, who led Memphis’ Lausanne Collegiate High School to the TSSAA Division 2 small school state championship.

Mississippi State has now locked down two of the best players in the state of Mississippi in class of 2020 as rugged and athletic 6-foot-6 220-pound Cameron “Mook” Matthews of Olive Branch High School and Derek Foutain will help fill voids and add versatility to the Bulldogs frontcourt.

Ladies and gentlemen get your popcorn ready. Starkville, Mississippi will be rocking in the years to come.
